Police in Minneapolis are on the lookout for someone who has been looking into windows with a video camera. Three times last week, people living in the Como neighborhood called police to report a peeping incident. The homes are all within a few blocks of one another on 22nd, 24th and 27th Avenues Southeast. The Como neighborhood is a short bike ride from the University of Minnesota, making it a popular place for students like Michael Canniff to rent homes.
Authorities said a man was taken to the hospital after climbing a power pole and getting an electrical shock in Minneapolis early Wednesday morning. Police responded to the area of 14th Avenue and 7th Street near the University of Minnesota sometime after 3 a.m. after the incident reportedly caused a power outage.
A 9-year-old Minneapolis boy was able to get through security and onto a plane at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport without a ticket, an airport spokesman said Sunday. Security officials screened the boy at airport shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Patrick Hogan said. The boy then boarded Delta Flight 1651, which left for Las Vegas at 11:15 a.m. The flight was not full, Hogan said, and the flight crew became suspicious midflight because the boy was not on their list of unattended minors. The crew contacted Las Vegas police, who met them upon landing and transferred the boy to child protection services, Hogan said.
Authorities said a man was shot as many as four times early Wednesday morning in Minneapolis and police are looking for a suspect. Police were called to the 500 block of Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis at about 2 a.m. When authorities arrived, a shooting had happened on the sidewalk near a parking lot.
The five girls who had been missing for nearly a day were found safe in St. Paul, according to one of the girls' mother. The girls were identified as 13-year-old Isabel Marie Ward, 12-year-old Gabriella Rae Woods, 11-year-old Keneni Mekonen, 12-year-old Malina Gail-Corrine Long Crow and 12-year-old Alexandra Rubina O'Brien.

Minneapolis Police will conduct a calibration test of its ShotSpotter technology Monday night in two precincts. According to police, testing will occur in the Folwell and Central neighborhoods, respectively in the 4th and 3rd precincts. The Folwell testing starts at 7 p.m., and the Central testing starts at 8:15 p.m. In each test, 25-50 shots will be fired for calibration purposes. Guns will be fired by officers in to a bullet trapping system, which safely absorbs bullets fired at close range.
Minneapolis Police and Crime Stoppers are teaming up to catch the man responsible for shooting a 14-month-old girl and two teens, one of whom was pregnant. According to police, the shootings happened on the early evening of August 20 on the 2900 block of Lyndale Avenue North in Minneapolis. MyKhalea Smith, 14 months old, Trenay Smith, 19 and Javar Smith, 17, were all on the porch of a residence when an unidentified man walked up and began shooting at them. MyKhalea was shot near her shoulder, while Trenay and Javar were both shot in the leg. Trenay was pregnant at the time.
Violence erupted in downtown Minneapolis early Monday morning, sending four people to area hospitals. Two people were shot, and two others were stabbed in incidents that do not appear to be related. According to police, the overnight violence came right after bar closing, when more than a thousand young people were in the street after an 18-and-up event let out.
