Police said the suspect was acting erratically and yelling before the unprovoked attack. The 52-year-old victim was able to climb out of the tracks and was not injured.
It happened around 6 a.m. on the C train platform of the Fulton Street and Rockaway Avenue station in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The victim, desperate to escape, clung to his window as firefighters rushed to save him from above and below.
