Mpls. Police Fire Live Ammo To Calibrate ShotSpotter System

Minneapolis Police will conduct a calibration test of its ShotSpotter technology Monday night in two precincts. According to police, testing will occur in the Folwell and Central neighborhoods, respectively in the 4th and 3rd precincts. The Folwell testing starts at 7 p.m., and the Central testing starts at 8:15 p.m. In each test, 25-50 shots will be fired for calibration purposes. Guns will be fired by officers in to a bullet trapping system, which safely absorbs bullets fired at close range.

Reward Offered For Info On Man Who Shot Infant, Pregnant Teen

Minneapolis Police and Crime Stoppers are teaming up to catch the man responsible for shooting a 14-month-old girl and two teens, one of whom was pregnant. According to police, the shootings happened on the early evening of August 20 on the 2900 block of Lyndale Avenue North in Minneapolis. MyKhalea Smith, 14 months old, Trenay Smith, 19 and Javar Smith, 17, were all on the porch of a residence when an unidentified man walked up and began shooting at them. MyKhalea was shot near her shoulder, while Trenay and Javar were both shot in the leg. Trenay was pregnant at the time.

Police: Help ID These Armed Robbery Suspects

Minneapolis police and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public's help in solving a June armed robbery, offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information. Authorities said at 10 p.m. on June 23, 2013, an adult female was robbed at gunpoint on the 4200 block of Linden Hills Boulevard. Just 20 minutes afterward, a white female went to the Super America at East Lake Street and purchased $300 worth of gift cards with the victim's credit card.

More Mpls. Cops Accused Of Using Racial Slurs

One week after two Minneapolis Police officers were suspended after being accused of using racial slurs in Green Bay, three other officers are accused of using racial slurs in another bar fight. The latest instance occurred last November in Apple Valley. Police paperwork shows there are again accusations of racial slurs, but the officers involved deny using such language. The Apple Valley incident unfolded at Bogart's Place, when group of white men walked out of the bar, three of which are said to be off-duty officers: Andrew Allen, Christopher Bennett and William Woodis.
