Tech Robberies Have 'U' Students On Edge

University of Minnesota students have more than just finals to worry about this week. An armed robbery happened in broad daylight right near campus Wednesday on 14th Avenue Southeast and Sixth Street Southeast in Dinkytown - the latest in a string of robberies at or near the University. Police say a female student was walking to class around 9:30 a.m. when a man approached her, showed her a gun and then took her backpack. Her wallet, iPhone and iPad were all inside.

Camera-Wielding Peeper Puts Mpls. Neighborhood On Edge

Police in Minneapolis are on the lookout for someone who has been looking into windows with a video camera. Three times last week, people living in the Como neighborhood called police to report a peeping incident. The homes are all within a few blocks of one another on 22nd, 24th and 27th Avenues Southeast. The Como neighborhood is a short bike ride from the University of Minnesota, making it a popular place for students like Michael Canniff to rent homes.

Boy Boards Plane To Vegas At MSP Without Ticket

A 9-year-old Minneapolis boy was able to get through security and onto a plane at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport without a ticket, an airport spokesman said Sunday. Security officials screened the boy at airport shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Patrick Hogan said. The boy then boarded Delta Flight 1651, which left for Las Vegas at 11:15 a.m. The flight was not full, Hogan said, and the flight crew became suspicious midflight because the boy was not on their list of unattended minors. The crew contacted Las Vegas police, who met them upon landing and transferred the boy to child protection services, Hogan said.
