Illinois State Police said troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash, where the sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said, shortly after 2 p.m., troopers responded to the inbound Dan Ryan near 43rd Street for a reports of shots fired.
Fire officials said the shooting happened after a chase that began in the local lanes of the Dan Ryan before switching to the express lanes. Shardaa Gray reports.

Kenyon White, 34, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
State police said the crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on northbound I-94 at 67th Street near Marquette Road.
