One person was confirmed dead after a multi-vehicle crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway at 87th Street Sunday morning, Illinois State Police said.
The southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway at 87th Street are shut down after a multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning, Illinois State Police said.
Illinois State Police said the crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. on northbound I-94 at 59th Street.
Preliminary investigation indicated that a Nissan sedan was stalled in the second, left inside lane. The semi was unable to stop and hit the rear end of the Nissan.
"You can outrun the police in certain circumstances. We terminate pursuits for safety reasons. But you can't outrun technology," Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis said.
Police are crediting license plate readers and a Chicago Police Department helicopter with helping officers catch a woman who led them on a high-speed chase along the Dan Ryan and Eisenhower expressways on Thursday.
The car was wanted for fleeing and eluding out of west suburban Oak Brook.
