Two people were injured and also taken into police custody after the driver fled a traffic stop Sunday night.
Shannon Stephens, 23, of Chicago's North Austin neighborhood, and Jamarion Gray, 21, of Hazel Crest, were arrested a block apart shortly after 2 a.m. Friday.
One person was taken to an area hospital with injuries, according to state police, who did not specify the person's condition.
A pedestrian died at the scene after being hit by an SUV on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Kenyon White, 34, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
State police said the crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on northbound I-94 at 67th Street near Marquette Road.
Police said the shooting happened in a train car, but did not immediately provide further information.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a Nissan sedan was stalled in the second, left inside lane. The semi was unable to stop and hit the rear end of the Nissan.
"You can outrun the police in certain circumstances. We terminate pursuits for safety reasons. But you can't outrun technology," Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis said.
Police are crediting license plate readers and a Chicago Police Department helicopter with helping officers catch a woman who led them on a high-speed chase along the Dan Ryan and Eisenhower expressways on Thursday.
The car was wanted for fleeing and eluding out of west suburban Oak Brook.
