Twenty-four hours of rain helped suppress the fast-growing Mosquito fire, giving crews a leg up on containment and allowing evacuees to return to a smoke-free community. But what did the rain do for wildfire long-term?
Containment of the fire jumped to almost 50 percent Tuesday. There have been evacuations lifted on the Placer County side.
The city of Rocklin is installing 32 more license-plate cameras, bringing the total to 37. The cameras will photograph rear license plates, allowing police to see if vehicles are stolen, and know who's coming in and out of the city.

More than 3,600 first responders are stationed there tonight. The sheriff's office says to expect heavy traffic there--during the morning commute until the fire is out.
The fire is now estimated to be 64,159 acres in size and is 20% contained as of Thursday. There are 3,655 people battling the fire.
The line, built by fire retardant, was dropped to ensure that the fire Tuesday did not make its way over Foresthill Road.
The fire started Tuesday along Interstate 80 near Dutch Flat. The fire is 30 percent contained.
