Police around the Philadelphia area were out in their communities Tuesday for National Night Out, an annual opportunity for law enforcement to spend time with residents and build relationships.
You can trace the origins of National Night Out to Lower Merion, Pennsylvania in 1970. Now over 40 years later, the organization is in every state promoting community relations with local police. Ross DiMattei reports.
A National Night Out celebration took a dangerous turn in Wildwood. Five people were hurt Tuesday night when a golf cart crashed into a crowd. Police said a child was driving the cart with a Wildwood police officer as part of a drunk driving simulation when it left the course and hit the people. Two people who were hurt are still in the hospital.
