The ages of the victims range from 9 to 61.
Chicago police said a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were inside a third-floor apartment when an unknown person entered, pulled out a firearm, and fired shots in their direction.
The robber took the victim's belongings and ran off the train when it arrived at the Cicero Avenue station, police said.
The cars were taken to unknown locations by a fictitious tow company, and the victims tried to contact the tow truck driver and company with no success, police said.
It happened during the early morning hours in the McKinley Park and Armour Square neighborhoods.
The boys, 16 and 17, were arrested minutes apart Saturday afternoon in the 2700 block of North Leavitt Street and 1900 block of West Diversey Parkway.
The teen was arrested Friday in the 1400 block of North Washtenaw Avenue.
