Seventh and eighth graders from Global Leadership Academy in West Philadelphia learned about the trans-Atlantic slave trade in Ghana and met and bonded with students at a school in the country's capital, Accra. Wakisha Bailey chats with the school's founder and students who have returned home from what they called the trip of a lifetime.
From dancing and drumming at a local school and seeing sights around the capital of Accra, to confronting the realities of the Transatlantic slave trade, students from Philly's Global Leadership Academy are learning plenty outside the classroom on a trip abroad to Ghana. Wakisha Bailey reports.

A trip of a lifetime. Young men from Philly and their chaperones are on their way to West Africa for a service trip. The students are from Unity in the Community's Carpentry Academy. They'll build desks and chairs for schools in Ghana. City Council President Kenyatta Johnson showed his support at the send-off.
