There an intense debate about the PGA's planned partnership with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour.
Key figures, including the LIV Golf CEO and the head of Saudi Arabia's investment fund, have refused to attend the hearing.
Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut tells "Face the Nation" that he is trying to uncover what happened behind the scenes in the PGA-LIV merger. "We are ready and willing to seek information by whatever legal means we have to obtain it," Blumenthal said.
After a bitter two-year dispute, the two professional golf titans are coming together.
The agreement ends a months-long feud over LIV's poaching of some of the PGA's biggest names, but it's also eliciting criticism that the Saudi kingdom is "sportswashing" to distract from a history of human rights violations. CBS2's Ali Bauman reports.
The deal comes after LIV Golf had joined an antitrust suit against the PGA Tour, with the agreement ending all litigation between the groups.
