A man who was shot and wounded by police on the Near West Side Friday afternoon is charged with assaulting an officer.
Police said a man was shot and wounded by officers during an investigatory stop where officers found he was armed. But as CBS 2’s Marybel González reports, many questions remain.
At 3:21 p.m., the 48-year-old man was parking his car in the 2000 block of West Chicago Avenue. As he got out of the car, two people came up and one of them took out a gun, police said.
At 8:32 p.m., a black Dodge sedan pulled up to a large group of people in the 1800 block of West Maypole Avenue, and three men got out and started firing into the crowd, police said.
A third passenger was taken in for questioning, police said.
The officer was responding to a domestic violence call at 1342 W. Taylor St. when he was shot and wounded. A suspect was apprehended. CBS 2's Tara Molina and Meredith Barack reports.
