Police said two people, between 30 and 40 years of age, forced their way into a residence through the window and took jewelry and a vehicle before leaving the scene.
The incidents happened within an hour on the Southwest and Northwest Sides.
In the Gage Park neighborhood, thieves stole an ATM from inside a business. Minutes later, a group of men burglarized a smoke shop, according to police.
In each incident, a burglar has broken the front window or glass door of a business and stormed inside, taking money from cash registers.
It was unclear if four burglaries in Edison Park were connected to three more in Norwood Park. But all the burglaries caused chaos and destruction for many businesses.

One container seemed to contain giant rolls of carpet, some of which were spilling out onto the tracks.

Police said that in each incident, the suspects placed a chain on a business's front shutter or door to pull it off the hinges and remove the ATM.

Police released surveillance video of the thief, who used a screwdriver to smash the windows of three businesses in the Edgewater neighborhood in the span of a week.
The two entered the businesses, taking items and money from inside, before leaving the scene and heading northwest through an alley.
It happened just after 3 a.m. at the Sunnyside Cannabis Dispensary in the 400 block of North Clark Street.
