"I'm grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, which has kept my case mild, and I urge everyone to do the same," said the 76-year-old former president.
All students and staff must be up to date on their boosters by Nov. 1 in order to be allowed on campus.
Mayor Eric Adams made the announcement Tuesday before getting his second booster shot.
New booster shots rolling out this week should offer protection against the original strain of the virus plus Omicron and new variants that may arise, health officials said.
Federal health officials say thousands of updated booster shots are already being shipped around the country.
U.S. regulators say they are no longer considering authorizing second COVID-19 booster shots for all adults under 50 this summer.

The CDC and FDA recently approved Moderna and Pfizer COVID vaccines for children 6 months of age and older.
The CDC authorized the shots over the weekend and now they are available to roughly 20 million children in the U.S.
