The spokesperson said the man, whose age was not released, was inside the car and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in unknown condition.
Authorities say that Metra's Union Pacific-West train service has been halted after a train struck a pedestrian Monday evening. The agency said that inbound and outbound trains were stopped near Kedzie.
The trips include the Metra Electric, BNSF, Milwaukee District West, Rock Island, and Union Pacific Northwest lines.
Tickets went on sale for the holiday trains at noon on Monday and sold out within minutes.
The trains will run on Dec. 6, 13, and 20.
