City councilmembers in Ocean City, New Jersey, voted to declare a local erosion emergency at City Hall Thursday night.
Officials in Upper Township, New Jersey, have declared a state of emergency regarding storm damage and beach erosion in Strathmere.
While no one was injured and there was minimal damage to nearby homes, local leaders in Strathmere fear a future storm system could lead to major flooding.
North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello said the damage is no easy fix for the Jersey Shore town.
It's a mostly cloudy Tuesday with a few sprinkles likely to be spotted in the morning. Conditions will improve as drier air moves in from the west. Clouds may linger early but should begin to break during the afternoon, allowing for some sunshine to return. Winds will remain breezy at times with gusts around 20 to 30 mph, and highs will reach the mid to upper 60s.
Fortunately, there was no major damage to structures or any injuries reported. However, there is concern that future storms could lead to additional issues, especially when it comes to flooding. Crews are expected to survey the storm damage in Strathmere on Tuesday.
Rain will taper off in the Philadelphia area and at the Jersey Shore overnight into Tuesday morning, and things clear up even more for Wednesday. Meteorologist Andrew Kozak has the NEXT Weather forecast.
