A Hillside, N.J., man has been charged with extortion, after allegedly claiming a woman's son had committed a crime and demanding $10,000 to keep the alleged victim's family from going to police.
Authorities said on Jan. 17 at around 9:30 a.m., two suspects forcibly entered the room of the victims inside the Harlem Vista Hotel, located at 75 Macombs Place.
The three victims - all males - were all taken to Jamaica Hospital. CBS 2's Derricke Dennis reported that the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The victim, a 25-year-old man, was approached by the suspects, who told him they liked and wanted his jacket, police said.
The suspects are still at large with the latest robbery coming on Jan. 21 at a gas station at 130th Street and Conduit Avenue in Ozone Park.
The female victim was walking on Riverside Drive when two male suspects approached her from behind and forcefully robbed her.
There was a 46-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man. Police are withholding their names, pending family notification.
