Len Druskin Restructures, Closes Several Twin Cities Stores

Twin Cities fashion retailer Len Druskin will close several stores in the coming days and weeks in a restructuring effort. In an email by Michael Druskin, president of Len Druskin, Inc., the company will close three of its nine locations in the Twin Cities – all three of which are located in Gaviidae Common in downtown Minneapolis. LD Len Druskin and LD Blues will close on Sunday, Jan. 26, and Len Druskin Man will close sometime in February.

Northstar Commuter Rail Line Ridership Increases

More people are riding the Northstar Commuter Rail Line between Big Lake and Minneapolis. Ridership increased 15 percent during the first six months of 2013, compared with the same period last year. Metro Transit made permanent a fare reduction in May that lowered most Northstar tickets by $1. A new station in Ramsey and significant ridership increases at the Big Lake and Coon Rapids stations offset decreases from the Anoka and Fridley stations.

Thousands Attend Rally For Trayvon Martin In Mpls.

Thousands packed the People's Square outside the Government Center in downtown Minneapolis to protest the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin Monday evening. People from across Minnesota came to the rally to support the civil rights prosecution of Zimmerman in a scene similar to rallies being held around the country. For 22-year-old Kyle Mason, the circumstances surrounding the Zimmerman verdict were nothing out of the ordinary. "The recent events of Trayvon Martin really bothered me but they don't surprise me, which makes it even more bothersome," Mason said.
