Police say the bus, driven by a 28-year-old man, was heading westbound when it was hit by a Chevy Malibu.
The accident happened on Columbus Drive in Grant Park.
The southbound No. J14 Jeffery Jump bus was serving the Columbus/Roosevelt stop when it was struck from behind, police said.
Police said the bus was headed north on Ashland Avenue around 12:30 p.m., when another vehicle swerved into its lane, and the bus crashed into a light pole.
Chicago Fire Department officials said 50 people were on the plane at the time of the collision, but no one on the plane was hurt.
Two women were killed in the crash - a 43-year-old from Massapequa and a 77-year-old from Farmingdale.
