Coming into tonight's NBA Draft, things were split among experts and fans on what the Sixers would, and should do with their draft picks. The team wound up not trading up to the top spot in the draft, all but ending their pursuit of Andrew Wiggins. The team did not walk away with a player that would be ready to go on day one. Instead they selected Joel Embiid.
Embiid underwent surgery on his right foot last week to repair a stress fracture in his right foot, inserting two screws into the navicular bone and is expected to be out four to six months.
Following their selection of Joel Embiid at number 3, the Sixers added Elfrid Payton at number 10. Payton comes to the Sixers by way of Louisiana-Lafayette. The team will reportedly deal him to Orlando for Dario Saric.
With the third selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers have selected Kansas Center Joel Embiid. The Kansas big man was the consensus number one pick until an injury to his foot required surgery.
