Police said just before 12:30 a.m., officers were investigating a call of an aggravated assault and a person with a gun inside a business in the 3900 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
Officers attempted to disarm the suspect when he fired his weapon, police said.
Chicago police said the victims were discovered on the sidewalk and inside a residence, but It is not clear where the shooting happened.
A gun was recovered at the scene. A person of interest was also taken into custody, police said.
The boy was shot in a home in the Ashburn neighborhood. Jermont Terry reports.
