According to the officials, Chicago has now welcomed a total of 3,716 asylum-seekers who arrived on buses from the Texas boarder.

Is the city pulling the plug on plans to turn a vacant school into a temporary shelter for migrants? Neighbors sounded the alarm in a CBS 2 report on Monday. On Tuesday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot's office said the building is not under consideration to house asylum seekers.
CBS 2 has learned there's a plan in the works to house hundreds at an old school in the Woodlawn neighborhood and it's a decision many residents, and the alderwoman said, blindsided them. CBS 2's Lauren Victory reports.
"They would be in a Black part of the ward where nobody speaks Spanish. Nobody could help them."
Since August 31st, Chicago has welcomed more than 3,300 migrants.
The city created websites with ways you can donate coats, clothes and other items.
The move includes a total of 12,000 people so far. More than 1,800 ended up in Cook County.
The City of Des Plaines is taking care of a new group of asylum seekers.
There are many ways people can donate clothing, gift cards and toiletries. People can also volunteer with organizations to help recently arrived migrants.
A group of migrants who were bused to Chicago from the Texas-Mexico border have been moved from their location in Burr Ridge.
Pritzker said he has deployed around 75 members of the National Guard for assistance as Chicago provides the migrants with shelter, food and medical attention.
