The day after storms moved through parts of the area, we are bracing for another round of gusty thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
Downed trees and flooded roadways made for some hazardous conditions Sunday when strong storms battered the area. The storms were particularly bad just south and east of Pittsburgh.
The Sunday rain had been predicted, but even when it arrived, it seemed to come from out of nowhere. The storm brought lightning, thunder, heavy and fast rains and another round of flash flooding, trapping at least two people in a vehicle in East Carnegie.

A cool front will set off scattered thunderstorms across the area today. According to KDKA meteorologist Dennis Bowman, some of these storms can be strong with heavy downpours and hail.

While the temperatures will not be as hot today, we do have to keep alert for the possibility of some more scattered storms through this evening. Thursday's high hit 90 degrees, but today's high is expected to be just 84 with partly sunny skies.
