Third Civil Suit Filed Against Shattuck-St. Mary's

A third civil suit was filed Tuesday in a Rice County Court against Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, Minn., alleging that administrators knew a teacher had engaged in sexually-inappropriate behavior with male students. The student who filed the suit claims his was abused during the 2000-2001 school year by Lynn Seibel, according to the law firm of Jeff Anderson and Associates. Seibel was both a drama teacher and was a "dorm parent," who lived with some of the students.

Authorities in southern Minnesota are investigating after a worker in an industrial area found the body of an adult male Tuesday in an open field. Faribault Police officers were called to the open field south of 30th St. NW and Industrial Drive at about 1:47 p.m. Tuesday after the man was found lying in the snow.

Ex-Republic Airlines pilot pleads guilty to threat

A former Republic Airlines pilot has pleaded guilty to threatening to torture and kill the company's CEO and his family. The U.S. attorney's office says 37-year-old Matthew Richard Walker, of Faribault, Minn., entered the plea Monday in federal court in Kansas City. Prosecutors said one threatening letter was discovered in August 2012 in the cockpit of an aircraft that was parked at Reagan National Airport in Washington.

Faribault Police Investigate 3 Related Drive-By Shootings

Police responded Thursday night to the third drive-by shooting in the past week. According to Faribault Police, a drive-by shooting was reported Thursday at 11:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Central Avenue NW. The apparent target was a single-family home with several occupants, including young children. The home was struck by several bullets, but no one was injured.

Fmr. Shattuck-St. Mary's Teacher Pleads Guilty To Sexually Abusing Boys

The former Shattuck-St. Mary's teacher charged with seven counts of sexually abusing six students changed his plea to guilty on Friday, according to the Rice County Attorney. Lynn Seibel, 71, taught at the Faribault boarding school and was accused of sexually assaulting six males students from 1999 to 2003. He'll now be sentenced on Oct. 4.

Mitch Ohnstad loves basketball. He trains players in the sport, and his wife coaches a high school team.
