The event was packed, and the truth is – nobody learned too much about the city's plan for the respite stop for migrants at the old South Shore High School, 7626 S. Constance Ave.
Late Thursday, some big questions were emerging over the lack of smoke alarms going off.
Some residents also said they were not surprised that the condo building recently failed an inspection with regard to the fire alarm and communication systems. CBS 2's Charlie De Mar reports.
Community members said the city has put very little thought into the move, calling it an "intrusion into daily life" in South Shore. CBS 2's Marissa Perlman reports.
"While this may constitute an emergency for the city of Chicago, it does not constitute an emergency for the South Shore community," said Ald. Michelle Harris (8th).
We also found violations for issues involving heating – in December of last year, and again in February.
