A 25-year-old woman died after being struck when a car jumped a curb in Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
Keithina Brisco Edwards, 24, was arrested and charged with one felony count of attempted first-degree murder.
Chicago police said that the woman was hit by the SUV driven by a 24-year-old man traveling northbound.
The SUV driver continued northbound and was not present when officers arrived, police said.
There was no 911 call made after the shooting, and one alderwoman said she believes ShotSpotter technology, which was removed last year, would have helped in this case. Tara Molina reports.
Alderwoman Monique Scott (24th) said he was found in a backyard. She confirmed that ShotSpotter technology was in place in the neighborhood where the boy was found and says it could've helped police and first responders find him sooner, and she's not alone.
Fire crews arrived at the scene to treat the victim, believed to be a teen, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
