Fields' status with the Bears had been in doubt since the middle of the 2023 season.

All eyes are on the Bears who have the No. 1 and No. 9 overall picks in this year's draft, along with the potential trade chip of Justin Fields.
The Chicago Bears have the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft in back-to-back years. Last year, general manager Ryan Poles traded the team's top pick to the Carolina Panthers to get several picks and wide receiver DJ Moore. This year, what the team does with its first overall pick will determine quarterback Justin Fields' future.

The future is extremely murky for Justin Fields. At one point not long ago, the former first-round quarterback was looked at as the franchise cornerstone, so much so that the Chicago Bears opted to trade the first overall pick last offseason. A year later, however, the club again finds itself atop the NFL Draft and appears it will make the selection, likely opting for USC quarterback Caleb Williams. If/when that happens, it effectively ends Fields' tenure in the Windy City.
