As CBS 2 Political Investigator Dana Kozlov reported, this is the first time in almost 80 years the Cook County Forest Preserve District is asking voters for more money.
"These guys are really nomadic right now. And they're going to be on the move until they can find a vacant spot."
The county will be awarding $14 million in grants over the next four years.
They include new trauma services for detained youth, limits to disciplinary confinement, and more access to counseling.
"The weather is colder in much of the country, parties move indoors and multi-generational families are gathering for the holidays. The boosters are going to be a critical tool for keeping people protected against severe illness and from being hospitalized."
Friday is the last day to apply for cook county's new guaranteed income program.

Cook County homeowners are now able to get free legal advice for questions concerning their homes.

Applications open October 3rd.
