The robberies have occurred since Aug. 11 in Chinatown, West Town, and the Loop.
Police say in each of the robberies. a dark blue Land Rover Discovery with IL plate DJ87261 drove up to the victims, and two men exited the vehicle armed with a handgun.
The robbers threatened to kill the victims, who then handed over their cellphones and wallets. Investigator Megan Hickey reports.
The robberies happened on Saturday, Aug. 11, one around 1:30 a.m. and two more just before midnight.
Police say in these incidents, one to three offenders armed with handguns approached victims on the street and announced a robbery.
The shootings happened in the Chinatown and Washington Park neighborhoods.
Paul Bessette was shot while in his car in the 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue—just south of Cermak Road in the heart of the Chinatown community.
