The plan would allow MedStar paramedics, dispatchers and employees to become part of the fire department, based on the need for the position.
There are 40 women firefighters in the city and 15 female recruits in the current class at the Fort Worth Fire Training Center.
It is not currently known what caused the fire.
North Texas firefighters are on the ground in the Panhandle pitching in to help contain the wildfires which have already reached Oklahoma.
