The Stars' lease for the AAC ends in 2031, and the team is pushing to construct a new arena in Plano.
The project would include a new Dallas Stars arena, along with restaurants, shops and public spaces.
The team and the city asked for feedback from surrounding homeowners, so they will hopefully give the green light to the project.
It is a big vote — but not the final buzzer.
"Guys, I don't know if you figured it out yet, but the knives are out for our city," said Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson.
The Dallas Stars have taken a major step toward leaving Downtown Dallas.
