Bostian could face life in prison if a jury convicts him of all charges in the May 2015 Amtrak derailment.

Bostian faces more than a lifetime in prison if convicted.
The former Amtrak engineer is charged with eight counts of involuntary manslaughter, one count of causing a catastrophe, and 238 counts of reckless endangerment.
The trial is expected to last a week.
The ruling Thursday by Superior Court Judge Victor Stabile overturns a lower court's decision last July to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges against Brandon Bostian.
A judge dismissed the charges on Tuesday.
