Nearly 500 Long Islanders were among the 9/11 victims. More than 2,000 friends and family members of those victims attended the Point Lookout ceremony Sunday morning.
While the eyes of the world turned to the World Trade Center site and 9/11 National Memorial in Lower Manhattan for the ceremony marking 10 years since the attack on America, it was far from the only memorial taking place.
