The New York City subway system has largely returned to normal in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, but rebuilding the section of the A Line in the Rockaways will take time, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority reported.

The MTA said commuters should expect delays and crowded trains until service is fully restored.
The Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines will operate with regularly scheduled service on Monday, including the Wassaic Branch on the Harlem Line and the Waterbury and Danbury Branches on the New Haven Line.
Fans traveling to Barclays Center for the Nets' opener were aided by opened subway lines.
