The victim suffered a puncture wound to the thigh, and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he died, police said.
Rosemont police said they found a suspect a short distance away and detained him.
Further information about the unauthorized person on the tracks was not immediately available.
A man died at a CTA Blue Line stop during the Friday morning rush, prompting a service shutdown and then delays between Wicker Park and the Loop.
It happened just before 8 a.m. in the 2400 block of West Gladys Avenue near the CTA Blue Line stop.
Chicago police said officers and fire crews responded to a service call where the victim stumbled and fell onto the tracks as the train was arriving at the station.
It happened around 8:13 p.m. Saturday in the 2600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.
The man died at the scene and was already dead when police arrived.
A large stretch of the Blue Line was shut down after the incident at the Division/Milwaukee stop.
Police activity disrupted train service at the Racine Avenue stop along the Eisenhower Expressway.
Reports that someone was shot on a train were not immediately confirmed.
