While it's hard to tell, the 49ers are slowly getting healthier. The long list of names on their injured report remains, but nothing to be alarmed about for the time being. St. Louis on the other hand is as healthy as can be heading into this pivotal game to stay out of the NFC West cellar.
With the 49ers sputtering out to a 1-2 start in 2013, everyone is trying to figure out what is wrong with the team many had picked to be the NFC representative in the Super bowl. While most theories are around the offense that has failed to put up points, the real concern is a 49ers defense that is running out of bodies.
Despite the multitude of issues surrounding the 49ers, they will still have the better team on the field Thursday Night, and if they play like they can, they will snap their first losing streak under Jim Harbaugh as well as their losing streak to the St. Louis Rams.
The defense fought hard, but in the end could not hold up. With no help from the offensive side of the ball, the defense was fighting a losing battle, and the result was another resounding loss. This time though, its to a team, that San Francisco figured to beat. While there is reason to be concerned, the 49ers will be alright, and still on track for their 2013 goals.
The scoreboard is not the only place where the 49ers were beat up this past weekend. After a relatively injury free start to the season, there are several players who now fill up the injury report, but the news is not all bad. Their opponent has two very significant injuries, and this game will not be nearly as physical as the war that was the game against Seattle.
