Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot in the left arm while walking with a friend on 129th and Amsterdam Avenue around 8:30 a.m.
Four of the victims were shot in separate incidents, while the fifth was injured in a car crash that apparently was caused by one of the shootings.
The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Linden Boulevard. The officer was taken to Kings County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident took place at 8:25 p.m. Sunday. The NYPD says two patrol officers were notified of a dispute taking place in front of 225 East 45th Street.
