Hundreds of transit workers were not paid for allegedly not showing up to work ahead of Superstorm Sandy, according to a transit workers union, which claimed those employees had no other choice.

As we've seen over the past week plus, weather can't bring New York City to a grinding halt. So, despite the foul weather of a nor'easter, the MTA's Aaron Donovan says the agency will hold its first fare hike hearing tonight at 5 p.m.
"We are working day and night to restore service as quickly as possible to give customers more travel options after the storm each day," said MTA Chairman and CEO Joseph Lhota.

The MTA said commuters should expect delays and crowded trains until service is fully restored.
The Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines will operate with regularly scheduled service on Monday, including the Wassaic Branch on the Harlem Line and the Waterbury and Danbury Branches on the New Haven Line.
Fans traveling to Barclays Center for the Nets' opener were aided by opened subway lines.
