The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. in the building on the northwest corner of 63rd Street and Albany Avenue.
No one was in custody late Friday. Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.
The clearing property near 63rd Street and Long Avenue has been vacant since 2017.
