New numbers from the Board of Elections said 23,718 ballots have been cast, including more than 21,000 vote by mail ballots and more than 2,400 early votes.
You can vote early at two places in The Loop today.
The election is almost a month away on February 28, and you can vote for your alderman and next mayor among other races.
Voters can go to the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan to cast a ballot.
Starting today people living in the city can vote for up to six names.
As of early Monday morning, more than 269,000 people have already voted early by mail or in-person in Chicago.
Voters in DuPage County are not limited to a single polling place.
While polls opened at 6 a.m., some polling places did not open until after 7 a.m. Aside from a late start, the biggest issue reported during voting has been Sharpies bleeding through the ballots.
CBS 2's Asal Rezaei said as of 11 a.m., already 350 people have voted at the Elmhurst City Hall. Voters told Rezaei the process has been pretty simple.
All 50 wards have early voting sites.
With just 25 days until the election, voters in Chicago and suburban Cook County can now cast their ballots.
