Police said four men in their 20s armed with revolvers and semi-automatic handguns shouted "Give me everything, don't move or I'll shoot!" in each of the robberies.
Jerry Mufid, 20, was arrested by police around 5:35 p.m. on Saturday in the 0-100 block of West Illinois Street.
Police have not said if all five robberies are connected. No one was in custody Friday morning.
Video of the three suspects shows them in the 3000 block of West 80th Street on Dec. 17, just before 11 p.m.
The robberies happened during the day in the 60617 zip code in the South Chicago neighborhood. The most recent robbery happened on Monday.
The robberies happened just a day after a store clerk on the South Side was shot to death during an attempted robbery.
Police said both involved three male suspects armed with handguns.
