The start of Thanksgiving turned violent on the expressway with two separate shootings in the early morning. Shardaa Gray reports.
Both shootings happened within an hour of each other Thursday morning between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m.
Police said the crash happened around 10:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-47 near 108th Street.
The victims were headed north on I-57 near 116th in February 2023 when a gunman opened fire. Two teens and a two-year-old child were killed. Twenty-year-old Sean Richardson was arrested Monday.
Sean Richardson, 20, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Two children were reported in serious-to-critical condition, and a third in "grave" condition. State police said one of the children died.
The crash happened on I-57 inbound near 107th Street, about a mile and a half south of the split from the Dan Ryan Expressway.
