The floodwaters came in waves and gushers, and some drivers found floodwaters coming up to the middle of their car doors. CBS 2's Chris Tye reports.

There is good news for people whose homes were damaged during flash flooding on July 2. After a survey by government assessment teams, Gov. JB Pritzker is requesting an expedited FEMA federal disaster declaration from President Joe Biden. If the request is approved anyone in Cook County who suffered damage from that flooding would be eligible to apply for individual assistance.
Thirteen counties across central and southern Illinois were added to the list. Cook County was included in the original count.
It has been more than two weeks since record rains overwhelmed the system and sent water into basements.
