Chicago police superintendent David Brown will share what plans are in store for the holiday weekend.
Police said the officer, who was off duty at the time, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"As long as there are no consequences, this behavior will continue."
The retired officer was shot outside a currency exchange in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood Thursday morning.
A report by the city's inspector general found during April and May, nearly 1,200 officers were scheduled to work at least 11 days straight.
"We can't live like this. The city has become – I won't even say, Gotham City is a little bit better, because you have Batman," said Uzma Sharif.
"We're going to be able to identify vehicles, not only by their license plate but other markings on their car."
In the years following the shooting death of Laquan McDonald by Chicago Police, an effort has been made to bring the community into the decision-making process around police policy.
