The protest is part of a wave of nationwide demonstrations, with local officials preparing for increased crowds and prioritizing safety.

Organizers of "No Kings: Nationwide Day of Defiance" call it "a national day of action" in response to the "increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration."
