The risk of severe thunderstorms will increase Friday night with an enhanced threat southwest of Chicago between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., bringing winds of over 70 miles per hour and potential tornadoes.
Winds late in the morning and during the afternoon are expected to gust over 40 mph from the southwest.
"It appeared that the top portion of a tree had just snapped off."
The Fire Department reported when a localized, but high-wind-force storm passed through the city from the west, their crews responded to significant roof damage at three locations.
