Preliminary information indicated a red 2020 Chevrolet struck the rear of the salt truck that was stationary in the second lane from the right that was diverting traffic from a previous crash, ISP said.
Illinois State Police said just before 1 a.m. troopers responded to the northbound express lanes at 47th Street for a call of a Move Over law crash involving an IDOT salt truck.
Illinois State Police said the crash happened around 11:15 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-94 at 34th Street.
Preliminary reports say a white 2007 Chevrolet swerved onto the right shoulder and struck the rear of a stationary IDOT truck.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash, and the victims all suffered non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
Illinois State Police said troopers responded to the southbound I-94 ramp to 39th Street just after 5 a.m. for a single-vehicle rollover crash with injury.
The driver, a 43-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There's no word on any injuries.
The Chicago Fire Department said two CPD officers and one ISP trooper were taken to Christ Hospital with minor injuries.
It happened around 2:12 a.m. in the northbound lanes near 91st Street.
Police late Thursday were searching for the shooter.
The man was shot in his arm and leg, but is expected to recover.
