It happened around 2:12 a.m. in the northbound lanes near 91st Street.
Police late Thursday were searching for the shooter.
The man was shot in his arm and leg, but is expected to recover.
Four people were inside the stolen car at the time – and Illinois State Police they might have been involved in another crime earlier in the day in Chicago. CBS 2's Jermont Terry reports.
Everyone in the stolen white Infiniti took off running, and remained on the run late Monday night.
All three victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical center in good condition.

A car rear-ended a semi-trailer truck, and photos showed both vehicles appeared to be burned.
The Fire Department said the accident happened around 9 p.m. on the southbound Dan Ryan just south of the junction with the Stevenson Expressway, around 2500 South.
In 2022, crews picked up 70 tons of litter. To date in 2023, they've collected about 47 tons.
It's seemingly never-ending work. Crews with the Illinois Department of Transportation said they've constantly removing trash and debris from expressways.
The man who was shot was crossing the street in the crosswalk and was not the intended target, police said.
The shooting happened at 69th Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The troopers eventually caught up to the man, and he was apprehended.
It happened just before 5:30 a.m. Monday on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway at Garfield Boulevard.

The crash happened around 1:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes at Taylor Street.
Police said the victim pulled over on the Dan Ryan Expressway at 31st Street to report the shooting.
The couple said they were heading into work when their window was shot out on I-55, but it ended near the Dan Ryan.
