Jabari Edwards, 28, was charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer in connection with the incident on Wednesday, June 1, police Supt. David Brown announced.
A bullet hit the officer's spine and lodged in his chest.
He yelled "there go police right there," jumped in front of them, and fired multiple times, prosecutors said.
No information on the officer was immediately available.
