It's the second time the alderman has failed in his bid to force a full City Council vote on raising the threshold for speed camera tickets back to the original level of 10 mph.
"At its core, we're taking resources and putting them towards working class people, and to that extent, I find it hard to be against that," Ald. Michael Rodriguez (22nd) said.
If confirmed by the City Council, Lee would become only the second Asian American alderman in the city's history.
